Today’s Challenge was hosted by
Book Reviews from a Christian Gal (btw, thank you for this challenge! It was a lot of fun to do!) This challenge was called “Create a Sentence” and what you do is create a sentence from the first two words in books. So, go find books and see if the first two words in a couple of the books can make a sentence! Obviously, it is a little tricky so you can add a word in your sentence to make sense if that is causing a problem.
I can’t wait to read what people are finding and coming up with because I know there are going to be some hilarious ones around! So let’s get on to mine, shall we?
Okay well, funny story. When I first read the rules I thought we were supposed to get the sentence from the first two words in the title not the book itself. So I went through my books and actually found a title that I thought was hilarious. Since I don’t want my genius sentence to go unnoticed, I’m adding it for fun.
I came up with “We were good in the pact then came the reader while I (was) wasted.” Unfortunately that was not the right way to do the challenge but I just wanted to still show it. Books used: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart // Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner // The Pact by Jodi Picoult // Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner // The Reader by Bernhard Schlink // While I was Gone by Sue Miller // Wasted by Marya Hornbacher. “Was” is in parenthesis because that was the word I added in to make more sense.
Now onto the actual challenge! My real sentence is “Okay, so even before the Voice everyone has (been) welcome to the smoke.” It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense unless you imagine there was another singing show called The Smoke before The Voice became a thing. “Been” is in parenthesis because that was the word that I added in to make more sense.
The books I used for my real sentence:
- “Okay, so” – Hot Six by Janet Evanovich
- “Even Before” – The Soldier’s Wife by Joanna Trollope
- “The voice” – Chasing The Dime by Michael Connelly
- “Everyone has” – Night Film by Marisha Pessl
- “Welcome to” – We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
- “The smoke” – The Black Ice by Michael Connelly
To make this one even more difficult on me, I only used the books that were downstairs in the living room and the dining room. I didn’t want to restrict myself but I was feeling lazy and I was already upstairs for 20 minutes choosing my first sentence and didn’t want to go back up there again. So there you have it. My sentence is apparently about how I must be mad that people want to go on the show with Adam Levine instead of the other nonexistent wonderful singing show The Smoke.
What are your sentences? Which sentence of mine do you like better?
